Kids Camp is our flagship programme with over 280 kids coming on holiday camps every year. Every camp has a fantastic mix of amazing volunteer leaders, exciting activities, adventure variety time, great food and heaps more.
We need all kinds of volunteers on Kids Camps from cabin leaders to dishwashers and programme directors to first aiders. We also need help cleaning up at the end of camp. If you are interested in helping contact JC at jc@cdntrust.org.nz
Big Night Out events run across Christchurch throughout the year.
We love to see community and therefore we run collaboration with local youth groups and kids clubs. BNOs often include Lasertag, trampolining, pool party, ice skating and lots of pizza!
Teen Adventure Camps are a great weekend away at places like Hanmer Springs, Mt Hutt or Glenroy complete with yummy food, crazy fun (those two are often combined), paintball, archery, mountain biking, high ropes courses and of course amazing leaders.

The Hornby Youth Hangout is a great place for young people to come after school and chill out with our youth workers. The Hangout is open twice a week after school – Tuesday for year 7/8s & Thursday for year 9-13 students. After-school until approximately 5:00pm (some days we have to close early).

Our 24-7 Youth Workers, Rach, Donna and …. connect with students at Kirkwood Intermediate running lunchtime sports, helping in classes and school camps, coaching sports teams and mentoring young people.
James works with Hornby High School to coach and help coordinate basketball teams and social basketball programmes. Basketball has grown in Hornby from just one girls team in 2008 to 6+ competitive teams each year currently. We now have teams for boys and girls from years 7-13 and our Senior boys team placed 10th at the 2017 South Island premiership.
Huge Thanks also to the Gators basketball club and Canterbury Rams who provide heaps of coaching, promotion and club team opportunities for our Hornby students!
We are starting to work with primary school students to teach basketball skills. If you’re interested in starting a basketball team at your primary school or want to come to a free coaching clinic in Hornby get in touch with James: james@cdntrust.org.nz
Are you a basketball coach or referee and keen to help out? Get in touch with James: james@cdntrust.org.nz
Local Youth Groups
While CDN doesn’t run a youth group we partner with Local Youth Groups all over Christchurch. To help you find a youth group near you we have put together a list of Canterbury-based youth groups. Each youth group has its own unique culture, as these arent CDN programs we recommend contacting them directly with any questions.
